CLASSESMay I watch my child attend class? Parents are welcome to observe the first day of class. After the first day, we ask that parents wait outside the class room unless further observation is approved by the instructor.
My child has special cognitive or behavioral needs. How can I best prepare for her experience at McGroarty Arts Center?
When can I register? Visit our registration and policy page. You may register up until the first week of class. Select classes will accept late registration. We recommend signing up as early as possible because our classes fill quickly.
How do I pay for my classes? We accept cash, check and VISA/Mastercard. You are welcome to make payment in person, over the phone or through the mail. You can also pay in installments by making arrangements with the office (818) 352-5285.
VISITINGDo you have a museum? We do not have a museum, but we do have exhibits. We maintain a small, historic exhibit about Mr. McGroarty’s life year round. We produce a Ceramics Exhibition and Benefit each June. We also organize exhibitions on our premises in partnership with other organizations, which are held at different times each year.
Office hours are Monday-Friday 10:00am-6:00pm. Class hours vary. Typically, our earliest class of the day starts at 9:00am and our latest class ends at 10:00pm. Classes run Monday through Saturday.
Absolutely! The McGroarty home is a Los Angeles Historic landmark, and a lovely piece of Southern California history. However, portions of the Center may be restricted to visitors during class hours.

CENTER HISTORYWho is John Steven McGroarty? John Steven McGroarty was an author, poet, and political activist who made his home in the foothills of Sunland-Tujunga. McGroarty Arts Center now stands in his original home, as a living tribute to this remarkable man.
McGroarty Arts Center was founded in 1953.

EVENTSIs McGroarty Arts Center available for my private event? Yes, we rent space within the Center to private individuals and groups. Please note that during class sessions, our space and time is extremely limited. McGroarty Arts Center may not be rented for political events. For more information, please see our Venue rental page.
How can I become a vendor at a future McGroarty Arts Center event? We welcome artists and vendors at several of our events throughout the year. Please check our website as these events approach, for information on how to become a vendor. |
