| What is in Your Heart- an interactive installation with Petra Eiko |
|
Come to McGroarty Arts Center for “What is in Your Heart,” an inspirational, interactive public art exhibition. This unique installation is part of The-Green-Heart project, the brain-child of internationally recognized artist and author Petra Eiko.
Eiko launched The-Green-Heart project to inspire peace by encouraging people to see their full potential and to improve the world in which we live. As part of the Green-Heart project, “What is in Your Heart” installations spread the message that we are not alone, and help us discover how to let more love into our hearts, thus enriching our lives and the lives of others.
Early last year, Eiko installed “What is in Your Heart” at Fred Segal’s Zero Minus Plus in Santa Monica, California. Shoppers were invited to answer the question, “What is in Your Heart,” and list these thoughts on pages that were then taped to a wall as part of the installation. The results were inspirational. Page after heartfelt page served as a reminder of all that we universally share: the distance between where we are and where we want to be, our social nature and our dependence upon those close to us, our memories, worries, and joys.
“What is in Your Heart” will be on display in the Main Hall at McGroarty Arts Center in Tujunga from Tuesday, January 4, 2011 through Friday, February 18, 2011, Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm, and Saturday 9am-4pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to participate by penning their thoughts and posting them within the exhibition.
