Gifts from a Friend
McGroarty Arts Center. What are you? A place? No, not a place. A place is static. You move beyond the reaches of any border carrying the principles of artistic expression. A mother? Yes, a mother giving birth to artists who in turn move on to create art, and this skill encourages ideas. And as a mother, you stand back proudly and take none of the credit as your own. A helper? Yes, a helper in molding principles. Particularly the idea that the creative nature of humanity is as vital to survival as any other basic need. Art? Yes, the inspirational heart of society. Within your walls, you hold visual arts, drama, music, dance, and literature which all inspire us to dream. We need dreams to build our future, and we need to build our future in order to survive. A friend? Yes, someone who sees your greatest potential and encourages you to meet it. Someone who holds you up when you cannot stand. Someone who lets go when you gain the strength to hold your own. Someone who can look at your most modest gifts and see them as valuable as gold. Thank us? No, thank you. Thank you for nurturing our potential, for giving us strength to create, and thank you for being the treasure chest for our dreams.
