Learn to hold violin and bow. Learn to identify written musical notes and apply this knowledge to playing open strings and up to first 2 fingered notes. Learn to count and play whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes. Learn proper bow technique for a smooth sound. Must be able to play up to page 8 of Bow and Strings Book One to move to Level Two. Students who have both supervised practice at home and a willingness to try hard may complete this level after one 8 week session and be ready to move on to Level Two. However, the class may be repeated for extra assurance.

Students in this class continue to progress through Bow and Strings Book One. They will learn slurs, one sharp, the tie, simple rhythmic patterns and combinations, one octave C scale introduced, use of 8th notes. Intermediate level.

- Sherí and Denise are both artists who are passionate about drawing and painting the figure. But each woman comes to the process with her own distinct approach. Denise believes strongly that in order to draw the figure well, anatomy of the human form has to be understood. Therefore Denise will focus on understanding the skeletal structure. Sherí is a more intuitive teacher who will encourage students to create portraits that are expressions of there own personal style. Having two teachers coming form opposite sensibilities will keep the classes lively and engage both sides of your brain.
