McGroarty Arts Center is run by a dedicated team of administrative personnel, devoted to the well-being of our patrons and the artistic integrity of the Center.

Staff

 

Joe Aguirre, Executive Director is retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District after 36 years of service as a teacher and principal. He was previously a Board Member and chair of the Development Committee. He is currently a ceramic arts student at McGroarty Arts Center. He has lived in Tujunga for over 35 years and has supported our schools, businesses and youth sports programs. As Executive Director he hopes to support and enhance the arts in our community.

Frank Valadez

Frank Valadez

Frank Valadez, President is a retired Project/Line Manager from Raytheon. After Military service, he graduated from CSULB and the Hughes Management Rotational training program and spent his career in the aerospace avionics industry. 

He is a life long member of the community, having generational participation with the center.  Coming to MAC in 2005 he became active in 2006 volunteering around the center for various tasks and in 2012 was one of the recipients of the Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation HALO Award in the greater Los Angeles area that supports non profit volunteer programs.

His goal as new Board Chair is to support board members using his aerospace managerial skills as they continue the Mission at MAC “ to bring affordable art to the children and adults of the Community”.

Austina Bosco

Austina Bosco, Vice President represents the interests of parents and children on the Board. She worked for Bank of America for over a decade until she left to raise her daughter, Willow. Willow has been a McGroarty Arts Center student since she was 3 years old.

Dawn Valli Jenkins

Dawn Valli Jenkins

Dawn Valli Jenkins, Secretary,  is an artist who grew up in Tujunga.  Over many decades, she has been attending a wide variety of art, dance, theater, writing, music and ceramic programs here at McGroarty.  She received her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with an Emphasis in Myth and Modern Literature from CSU Dominguez Hills, an M.A. from the University of Santa Monica in Spiritual Psychology, and a M.S. and D.S.S. in Spiritual Science from Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy.  Her doctoral thesis explored creativity as a pathway to greater joy, awareness, and self-realization.  Dawn is deeply grateful for all the friendships that she's formed through her connection with the McGroarty creative community.
