Six week workshop, January 18 -  February 22, 2018

Thursday nights, 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Member $100 / Non-Members $130

This six week workshop will be led by an instructor from the local Society for Calligraphy Guild.  Enjoy a guided course through the basics of italic lettering using pencil, markers and dip pens with various inks and pigments.  

Fee of $15 includes a starter set of tools and material.

About this course: Have you ever wanted to stop and capture a dreamy night? A city skyline, a store mannequin, or a deserted gas station? This dynamic EIGHT-SESSION class will enable students to capture the magic and mystery of the night by meeting at various exciting locations around Los Angeles. All cameras from DSLR's to point and shoot are welcome, but students must have previous experience with their cameras.  All levels.

Contemporary Native American Beading

About this course:  This class meets once a week for 8 weeks.  If you have ever been intrigued by Native American art work made with traditional seed beads, here is the class for you. Join us and learn to sew the contemporary way using paper patterns on felt with seed beads provided in an array of colors. "Best In Show" artist at the Autry American Arts Market
Place, Corey Stein will teach you how. We will all leave with a finished piece meant to be worn.

Stained Glass


About this course:  This class meets once a week for 8 weeks.  Have you ever wanted to learn how to do stained glass? Or do you want to improve your existing skills in a fun, encouraging atmosphere? Join our fun Stained Glass class and take your skills to a new level. You'll learn not only from our two expert instructors, but also from fellow students, as you see them build their projects over time. 

Joyce and Earl have been in business for over 40 years.  They have owned several stained glass stores since 1984, and have ample supplies available for supplying our students’ needs.


Required supplies:  Supplies are available from the instructors.  The instructors can estimate supply costs for each student depending on their level of stained glass experience.

About this course: This class is for the beginning oil painting student who wants to not only hone their painting skills, but also learn about color and its different attributes. At the end of this class you will have a much better and more thorough understanding of how colors work, and how to paint more efficiently, and why you might choose one way of doing a painting over another.

Watercolor: Basics for All Levels

Also, begin to learn the basics required for wheel thrown pottery. (Teen class is more expensive than youth class because it meets for longer and goes into wheel thrown skills)

Required supplies: Clay and tools are not included with tuition. Clay is available for $10 on the first day of class. Required toolkit is $15 and available for purchase in the office.

About this course: This class meets once a week for 8 weeks. Work includes hand-building, potter's wheel and sculptural techniques. Bring your own tools or purchase from office.  Each student receives 5,000 cubic inches of kiln space. Additional kiln space available at 5 cents a cubic inch.

Required supplies: Clay and tools are not included with tuition. Clay is available for $10 on the first day of class. Required toolkit is $15 and available for purchase in the office.

About this course: This class meets once a week for 8 weeks. Learn hand-building, slab and coil construction, pinch pots, and glazing through guided projects. Required supplies: Students must have piano/keyboard at home and be willing to practice a minimum of 10 minutes per day. Piano book for daily practice available from instructor.
